These are the terms you agree to when you place a deposit for a High on Life retreat. I have written them in plain language rather than legal language, because I would rather you actually read them.
Your place and your deposit
A deposit of $500 USD holds your room. Your place is confirmed once it is received, and the room comes off the list for everyone else. The deposit forms part of your total, not an extra.
Prices are per person for six nights, in US dollars, and include everything described on the retreat page.
The balance, and your card
The remaining balance is collected in one or two payments, agreed with you before anything is set up. The final payment is always taken at least two weeks before the retreat begins.
By placing a deposit you agree that I may store your card details and charge that card for the remaining balance of your retreat, on the dates and in the amounts confirmed to you in writing.
You will always receive an email confirming the exact amounts and dates before any further payment is taken. Your card will be used only for the balance of this retreat and for nothing else. Card details are stored by Stripe, our payment processor, and I never see or hold your card number.
You can ask me to remove your stored card at any time, and settle the balance by bank transfer instead.
If you need to cancel
The $500 deposit is non-refundable. It takes your room off the table for everyone else, and by the time you book I have already committed to the villa and the team.
- More than 30 days before the start date: everything you have paid beyond the deposit is refunded in full.
- Within 30 days of the start date: payments are non-refundable, because the villa, the chef and the team are paid by then.
In either case you can transfer your place to another woman, and I will help you do it. Your deposit can also be moved to a 2027 retreat instead of being lost.
If something serious happens in your life, talk to me. I am a person before I am a policy.
If I need to cancel
If the retreat is cancelled by me for any reason, you receive a full refund of everything you have paid, including the deposit. I am not able to reimburse flights or other travel costs, which is why travel insurance matters.
If circumstances outside anyone's control make the retreat impossible, such as extreme weather, natural disaster or government restriction, I will offer you a place on a future retreat or refund what has not already been spent on your behalf.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is your responsibility and I strongly recommend it, including cover for cancellation, medical care and lost baggage. It is the only thing that protects you if you have to withdraw close to the date.
Health, ability and taking part
The week includes yoga, breathwork, surfing, walking in the jungle and swimming. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for judging what is right for your body on any given day.
Surfing and swimming in the ocean carry real risk of injury. You will be with qualified instructors, and you are still responsible for your own decisions in the water.
You agree to tell me before the retreat about any medical condition, injury, allergy, dietary requirement or medication that could affect your participation or your safety. This is what the intake form is for. Nothing you share goes further than me and, where it matters for your safety, our chef and facilitators.
Nothing offered during the retreat is medical or psychological treatment, and none of it replaces care from a qualified professional.
The container
This is a small group in one house. Ceremony, circle and shared practice are the core of the week, not optional extras, and everyone is expected to take part.
What is shared in circle stays in the circle. I ask that of everyone, and I hold to it myself.
In the rare case that someone's behaviour makes the house unsafe or unwelcoming for others, I reserve the right to end their stay without refund. I have never had to do this and I do not expect to.
Photographs and film
Photographs and video are taken during the week, and some may be used afterwards to show what these retreats are like. If you would rather not appear in anything public, tell me at any point, before or during the retreat, and you will not. There is no need to explain.
Ceremony evenings are never filmed.
Getting there
Flights are yours to book and are not included. The group shuttle from San Jose is included when you arrive inside the window I give you. If your flight lands outside it, I will help you arrange a private transfer at your own cost.
You are responsible for your own passport, visa and entry requirements for Costa Rica.
